Trio Tipo: The Band
The first time Steve Haskin, Don Sellers, and Terry Storhaug played together
was in the spring of 2002 during the Art-A-Whirl festivities in Northeast
Minneapolis. Terry turned his antique furniture restoration shop, Old Science
Renovation, into an art and music mecca for the weekend and Steve, Don, and Terry
decided to play together. The musical chemistry was explosive and people listening
wanted to buy their CD and then were stunned to hear that they had never before
played together. As time passed they got together more, developing a repertoire
playing coffee houses and other venues.
After releasing their first CD Where We've Been Trio Tipo began making further inroads into the local music scene appearing on local radio and cable TV and playing at larger venues. Later they were invited by the Metropolitan Public Airport Foundation to play regularly in the main terminal at the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport providing music to travelers between flights. Consistently progressing thru the years they have continued touching deep inside their listeners inspiring all in different ways. Over the last few years they've played at the Minnesota State Fair for several days at a time performing from morning until late afternoon as hundreds would listen thru the day. Their long awaited second CD, Costa del Sol was released in the Summer of' 09.
Their music is unique, original, and captivating. It doesn't fit into any particular style though many styles can be heard in it. Listeners from all ages and musical tastes have come to appreciate Trio Tipo as they continue to evolve with the sound they call Acoustic Fusion. They are purely instrumental with no vocals and have been ideal for background music at dinners, art openings, weddings and other events. They can also perform in a concert setting, exciting audiences with every note. With more years of playing between them then they care to count, this group can provide quality entertainment in almost any venue.
